I remember when he sang at HSU in about 1965. He was spotted cavorting with friends at someplace in Arcata and we were all thrilled and fascinated, we knew so little about gay people. HERE’S an update.

We had the Twelfth of Never album when I was a kid. My Mom was a big fan. “Chances Are is still one of the great numbers.
“Chances Are” is a great song!.
I place Johnny Mathis as “make-out singer” in the same league as Johnny Hartman. Check out the latter’s album “John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman”.
Wow! I’ve never even heard of Johnny Hartman! Someone else to look up.
Looked him up. “Lush Life” has been one of my favorite songs since forever. Never knew whose lyrics. Thanks!
“And I’ll live a lush life in one small dive, where I will rot with those whose lives are lonely too.” –Billy Strayhorn
Strayhorn also wrote “Take the A Train”. You can stump people who think it was Duke Ellington.
I learned “Lush Life” from a JACK JONES album that I bought at the old Woolworth’s. No I would have guessed Ellington.
