THINKING OF MOVING?? BEST PLACES TO LIVE IN THE BAY AREA (?)

From the SF Business Times.  Sorry,  but these folks must have imbibed some early St Patrick’s Day cheer.   Where the hell is Saranap?  Have you ever SEEN  Albany,  the most congested place on the West Coast?  Interesting slide show.   See it HERE

  1. Saranap is part of Walnut Creek and located between Walnut Creek and Lafayette. The senior community Rossmoor is somewhat part of Saranap. Railroad trivia: Saranap was a stop on the Sacramento Northern RR that went from Oakland to Chico and was all electric. Saranap was named for the agent’s two daughters, Sara and another one I forgot. BART now uses the SNRR right-of-way through Contra Costa County.

    • Well, thank you! The other one I’d never heard of was Loyola in Santa Clara county. It turns out to be a hamlet of 3200 souls up in back of Foothill College.

          • Both are on the Old Santa Cruz Highway which parallels the current Hi 17. Not sure where the rail line was located. Holy City was a religious “utopian community” with their own radio station broadcasting their message to the Bay Area. Patchin was a small hamlet named because the main citizen spent his days on the porch patchin his pants.

          • Great info! I’d like to hear one of the old radio broadcasts, or at least a brief excerpt.
