This is the piece, from the New York Times, that will be quoted over and over again. This is the piece that sent Trump on his unhinged two-hour “briefing” on Sunday, the one that sent him off on his ‘I have unlimited power” rant.” Read about it HERE.

SHORT RIBS AND RANDOM THOUGHTS, EASTER EDITION 2020
The most hideous reminder yet of our President’s true character is his generous testing of a dozen or so captains of industry IN THE OVAL OFFICE while hundreds if not thousands of ordinary citizens are waiting to be tested. This is fascism pure and simple. The daily “briefings” by the POTUS which contain little information but have become nothing but a daily pitch for his re-elections are losing viewers. They lost me. I strongly recommend skipping the “briefings” and watching CNN or MSNBC for the meat. Read about it HERE.
And, from the Washington Post: “experts fear a possible covid-19 resurgence if Americans return to their normal lives before the virus is truly stamped out. But President Trump wants a strategy for resuming business activity by May 1, if not sooner.” Read the whole thing HERE.
And guess who else is, pardon the expression, weighing in? Our portly Attorney General, who knows as much about pandemics as he does about dieting. Between him and Trump there’s a lot of advirdupois on display, and not much wisdom. Trump doesn’t think it’s important to test the population to measure the extent of the infection. HE’d rather do it by guess and by golly like he does everything else. NOR does he want anyone looking over his shoulder. The WAPO has it HERE.
I was saddened to hear that John Prine has died of complications from the Corona virus. My favorite song of his was “They Ought To Name A Drink After You “. He was really a giant. I also just read that Phyllis Lyon just died. She and her partner, Del Martin, were among the very earliest gay rights activists in the Bay Area and I actually MET them in about 1970 when I was a grad student at SF State. God, I feel old.
Here’s a great quote from Our Fake President ca 1990, unearthed by Sara Sanger: “Politics is boring but more importantly, there no money in it. As a successful businessman, I’m naturally selfish, and the idea of representing the interests of others is alien to me.” Well-put, Donald.
Have a Happy Easter, everyone. This too shall pass.
