Fauci scolds Paul in tense exchange

This is the clip from Wednesday’s coronavirus hearing that is being played over and over again on news programs. In a tense exchange, Dr. Anthony Fauci scolded Sen. Rand Paul, saying that the senator had “misconstrued” the facts and had “done that repeatedly in the past.” When Paul suggested possible herd immunity in New York, Fauci replied, “You are not listening to what the director of the CDC said, that in New York it’s about 22%. If you believe 22% is herd immunity, I believe you’re alone in that.” Watch the full exchange here…

BUT ON THE OTHER HAND A WHOLE BUNCH OF SENIOR REPUBLICANS have said this morning there will be a peaceful transition of power come January if the president loses: Senate Majority Leader MITCH MCCONNELL, Sen. ROB PORTMAN(Ohio),Sen. BEN SASSE(Neb.),Sen. CHUCK GRASSLEY (Iowa), Rep. STEVE STIVERS (Ohio). Sen. RICHARD SHELBY (R-Ala.) (via the Hill pool): “Well, we’ve always had a peaceful transfer of power, that’s one of the hallmarks, and I think this year will be no exception.”

California county debunks voting misinfo

Oliver Darcy writes: “A Friday morning headline on the right-wing blog The Gateway Pundit said that a California man had found ‘THOUSANDS of what appear to be unopened ballots’ in a ‘garbage dumpster.’ The site obviously portrayed this as nefarious and photos of the discarded ballots also spread on Twitter. Fast forward several hours later, the County of Sonoma tweeted, ‘Help us stop a false report. Someone posted pictures on the web showing empty Vote-by-Mail envelopes from Sonoma County in recycling bins. The pictures are of old empty envelopes from the November 2018 election that were disposed of as allowed by law.'”
