How stupid is he? Don’t answer that. He’s too dumb to “know what he doesn’t know”. He’s too dumb to listen to his daily briefings because he thinks he knows it all. His need to be a big shot has apparently led him to kiss up to RUSSIAN SPIES INVITED TO THE WHITE HOUSE AT THE BEHEST OF V PUTIN, while the American press cooled their heels outside. This guy needs to be gone, yesterday. He’s 71 years old and has never been part of a team, has never been accountable.
The pace of the outrages is more than anyone can keep up with. I have seventeen stories- all important- that I just collected since yesterday..THIS IS PART OF THE RUSSIAN PLOT. They mean to destabilize our democracy, which is a lot more dangerous- and easier-than stealing votes.
I’ve included a few links. Make time to read them if you can. These are parlous times. We have a President who is treating the US Government as his own piggy bank and is taking his dreadful family on a jaunt to Europe, at your expense. Will he have enough sense to STFU during this trip? Let’s hope so. And may I add that the $99 I paid for a WAPO subscription has more than paid for itself.

And I’m exhausted. As Dan Rather used to say during Watergate, “Courage!”
I’ve been defending George Will for years. He’s an honest conservative- a rare breed- but even I was surprised when he resigned from the GOP a few months ago. This Washington Post piece on Trump’s mental state is a must-read.
The whole piece is HERE.
Having fired the hapless James Comey from the Directorship of the FBI, in the most cowardly way possible, our no-class President is trying to distract you again. His reasons for firing Comey are bogus , or perhaps the right term is specious. He’s trying to focus attention away from the fact, now public, that he knew for almost three weeks that Mike Flynn was a foreign agent before getting him out of the White House. Don has bought himself an express ticket to Special Prosecutor Land. Just don’t let him distract you.
Keep your eye on the ball, folks.
Yes, he talks a lot about infrastructure but talk is one thing. Gutting AMTRAK service is another. Our trip to Chicago on the Zephyr in October was a peak experience. Will it be available in the future?
I’ve been a member of NARP for years. Here’s their take.
The unhinged man-child who is currently our President is a constant embarrassment as the extent of his ignorance and inexperience becomes ever more clear. He has no philosophy, no values and no curiosity. It took China’s Xi a whole ten minutes on the phone to talk Trump out of the idea that China would be able to “help” with North Korea. The steady diet of scandal, nepotism, and incompetence goes on and on. Is all this just a plot to prepare us for the advent of President Pence?
For a good account of Don the Con’s educational deficiencies, read HERE.
Yes, Assad is a monster. But we should not act out of emotion to give our unhinged President the idea that he can unilaterally declare the war he wants so badly to distract from his domestic failures. There was no “emergency” here. Trump should have gone to Congress, period. For once in my life, I agree with Rand Paul.
What do you think?
Couldn’t find a graphic for pi (3.14). This protest reminds us that 37% of the residents of Silicon Valley are foreign- born.

I don’t know how I would survive the Age of Trump if I had to live in a more “normal ” environment. I know two people who voted for Trump and they both live on the East Coast, so I don’t see them often. Here, I can go everywhere knowing I will seldom or ever be reminded of the sordid mess gripping our nation. We have an orange -haired asshole screeching that Putin is our friend. We have wierdo Steve Bannon displacing sober and intelligent military representatives on the national security council and announcing that the sees his role as “deconstructing ” the government, or whichever part of the government he thinks he can do without that particular day. And we have that same orange -haired asshole bleating that the newspapers and TV etc are WRONG- WRONG- and that only HE can be believed. Someone estimated he told 1300+lies during the past month. That sounds about right. HERE‘s another account of just a few days in February.
Trump, it’s clear, is not a traitor. The most undereducated man to ever occupy the White House doesn’t have the analytical skills to commit treason ; he’d need a lot of help. His BA in Real Estate from Wharton didn’t teach him critical thinking or even punctuation . There are other ways to end a sentence besides the exclamation point. Sad! Nor apparently did he learn to think on his feet. He favors Twitter because he can just shoot his BS without fearing contradiction but is too chicken to face the White House Correspondents Dinner. His cowardice will be marveled at by future generations. But thin-skilled Don the Con is too chicken to show up. JFK, Obama, both the Bushes showed up but not our little flower Don. I don’t think he’ll be missed. The man has NO sense of humor, a dreadful deficiency for so someone in power. He’s too insecure.
I didn’t make it to Jared’s town hall on Thursday. I have the luxury o f knowing that my reps- and that includes Mike McGuire and Jim Woods also- will not disgrace me. God, I love living up here in the bubble.
Those of us with low expectations for the Trump Inaugural were not disappointed. He could have issued a call for unity. He could have addressed the concerns of the majority who did not vote for him. But no, instead he continued to demonstrate his unfitness for office, his insatiable ego, his lack of knowledge, and his basic lack of interest in being the President. He’s more concerned with ratings and crowd sizes than in governing. Those of us who thought that the grownups would get to him have realized that the grownups have no influence. He is a deranged and dangerous egomaniac who doesn’t know any better than to start his term with a loser’s controversy over crowd size. He’s starting with an attack on Federal employees – yeah, that’s real helpful.
We have entered a new era of Government by Lie. Trump lies so easily, so frequently, that we are getting used to it! If I thought he was really going to last four years, I’d really be depressed.
Don the Con now enjoys the support of approximately 30% of the voters. He’ll never add to that number unless he gets his priorities straight. Twitter wars were okay when he was just a candidate but his delusion that he can bypass the “crooked media” by using tweets just isn’t reality. Unless he can BUILD on his base, he won’t be around long. If he were really “a very smart person”, he’d know that.
The outrages are coming so thick and so fast it’s hard to keep up. Remember that this con, like all cons, works by distraction. He’ll keep the attention on himself by tweets and sound bits, and hope the true agenda stays under the radar.
HERE is an accounting of this past weekend. It’s not a good start.
I don’t remember going out of my way to watch ANY inaugural, even Obama’s which at least was historic. According to my ephemeris, Jan 20 2009 was a Tuesday, so I was probably at work. If inaugurals are such a big deal, why don’t they give people the day off? Just asking.
The time difference is a big problem. I was thinking about throwing a Bloody-Mary-and-Granola brunch for the Democrats in the ‘hood but 9am is too damn early to start drinking. If the weather is still miserable – as it’s predicted to be – I just might sleep thru the whole thing. If he screws up, it will be on the news anyway.
I think it’s great that there will be a vigil on Arcata Plaza by the Women in Black and anyone who cares to join them from 830 to 10am. You go, ladies!
This inaugural is not a celebration. It marks the transfer of power from a humane and caring individual to one who is coarse, crude, uneducated, greedy, sexist, ignorant and lies each time he opens his mouth. He’s not going to change. God help us all.
