SHORT RIBS (REAL SHORT) and Random Thoughts, Nov 24 2019

I’m down with the flu.  Back soon! Meanwhile:

ROGER Stone out on the Town while he’s still out of prison. Dinner was at Da Hong Pao and you can read about it HERE.

And here’s a good one. The restaurant where Gordon Sundland made his unsecured call to Our Fake President is called SHO and I couldn’t make the link stick but you can look it up on Trip Advisor. Consensus seems to be that the food is so-so, the ambiance great. Now I’m going back to bed. See you later.

THE WEEK IN IMPEACHMENT from the WAPO. ” The impeachment inquiry into President Trump burst into public view this week. There were three key moments:

Marie Yovanovitch, the former ambassador to Ukraine, above, painted a striking account of her ouster and offered a damning indictment of foreign policy in the Trump era, all while responding in real time to Twitter attacks by Mr. Trump.
William Taylor Jr., the top diplomat in Ukraine, and George Kent, a deputy assistant secretary of state, brought to life Democrats’ allegations that Mr. Trump had abused his office by trying to enlist a foreign power to help him in an election.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi shifted the tone of the investigation when she accused Mr. Trump of “bribery” in his dealings with Ukraine. It suggested that Democrats were moving toward a specific set of charges.
And House investigators didn’t stop there, soliciting more testimony from an official from the U.S. Embassy in Kiev and questioning a budget office official about Mr. Trump’s decision to freeze security assistance to Ukraine.

Next up: Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the E.U., is to testify on Wednesday.”

I hope you had a chance to watch the impeachment hearing on Friday. The spectacle of the Leader of the Free World tweeting and interrupting a civil servant during her testimony tell you all you need to know about DJT. Why does he always bully women and people who can’t answer back? Why are the only people he praises vicious dictators? Hmmmn….

The man who wasn’t there- Mike Pompeo has been absent from the fray, traveling out of country and out of the way, not lifting a finger or speaking a word to defend his employees .who are being trashed by a President who has no interest in government and no knowledge of competent administration. Have you noticed how Pompeo carries himself.? He cranes his head back to give the appearance of looking down. The lower half of his face is a fixed grin The upper half contains his eyes which are filled with fear. What a piece of work.

TWO sad losses. I was sorry to hear that Gene Schnell had passed at the age of 89. That old Kiwanis gang of mine is thinning out rapidly. Gene was a great guy and I will miss him. I’m also upset to hear than Pasta Luego is closing at the end of the month, a terrible loss for our county, which has NO Italian deli or grocery now. Apparently the Plazoids and street traffic made it impossible to conduct business on the ground level of Jacoby’s Storehouse. This is alarming , to say the least.

MY ADVENTURES IN SOLAR: Like everyone else I tried to get solar lanterns but we showed up too late at Picky Picky Picky and Chris bought the only ones left, a set of colored Luci lights which were better than nothing but just barely. Today I’m going to order a Luminaid from Amazon. I got an estimate from Six Rivers Solar and they would charge $32K for my 3/2 house in Cutten. It would take 14 years for the system to pay for itself and I’ll probably be dead by then. Oh well

KAPERNECK- is that how you spell it? He seems to be a sincere guy who rubs a lot of people the wrong way, the way reformers are supposed to. I hope someone gives him a job. His best years are passing by.
