About Us

And now a word from the innkeeper..

(A note from Julie Timmons)

My folks have been in Humboldt County since the 1860’s.  My grandmother ran a little grocery store near the corner of A and Albee in Eureka. This was during the Depression and she had a million stories but what made the biggest impression on me was when she recounted how she would have to go through the boxes of bananas when they were delivered, in order to pick out the tarantulas that had hitched a ride up from Panama.

You don’t know what you’re getting into when you start a business.  We hope that the exchange of ideas and information in these pages will be helpful and entertaining.

But like every other business, we’ll be picking out the tarantulas for the first few months. We welcome your input and feedback, not to mention tips, gossip and news.
